Today, Milroy Elementary School was visited by the nationally recognized Kasey Program. Firefighter Jeff Owens and his two dogs, Kasey and Karmel, taught the students what to do in the event of a fire. The dogs demonstrated important safety techniques such as checking the door handle temperature before exiting, crawling under smoke, and, of course, stopping, dropping, and rolling!
The Kasey Program was founded in 1995 and has traveled the country for nearly thirty years. Their goal is to teach fire safety in both an educational and entertaining way to create a memorable impact on every school they visit. They have taught over three million people about fire safety and plan to continue teaching for many years to come!
